Inkjet Printers
Inkjet printers are a type of printer that is most commonly hooked up to a computer to allow you to print off digital documents. The technology behind inkjet printing involves the printer injecting ink on to the paper to make the words or images that form the final printed document.

Shortly after their launch inkjet printers soon became one of the most commonly purchased and used types of printers for many years. The technology used here made these printers cheaper to buy than many other printer types and they were often perceived as being extremely reliable and easy to use. The quality of printing given by these types of printers is often held to be higher quality than many of the alternatives available.
Although all inkjet printers work in much the same way in the way that they get ink to the page there are various technologies behind this. Thermal inkjet models, for example, use thermally heated techniques to facilitate the release of inks. Piezoelectric models, on the other hand, use an electrical charge to force the ink on to the page. Continuous inkjets simply use a pump that uses a pressure system to push the ink on to the paper.
Inkjet printers remain the printers of choice for many people simply because they can print a lot of documents quickly and they can print at varying quality levels relatively reliably at a relatively low cost. Much of their initial popularity was based on the fact that these kinds of printers were very quiet and quick when they were working compared to printers traditionally used before this time.
There can be some disadvantages to using inkjet printers, however. Many people find that the inks used here can be relatively expensive compared to other printer inks. Some also have problems with clogging on the printer heads themselves which would affect the quality of print received until the heads were unclogged. Finally, the fact that most printers here use water based inks means that sometimes documents can run or blur, especially if they get wet or damp when the inks can run.
Inkjet printers are still popular with many people, both at home and in businesses, because of the quality and speed of printing that they can produce. Laser based printers may now be cheaper to run but the results they give may not be of as high a quality a lot of the time. People can also save on ink replacement costs by buying generic ink refills rather than those produced by manufacturers in many cases.
