Inkjet Printers
Inkjet printers are one of the cheapest printers on the market today and are very popular amongst consumers. They work by propelling various sized drops of ink onto the paper. You can print in almost any colour using this type of printer and you can print onto any medium, paper, photo paper and so on. The four leading manufacturers of inkjet printers are Canon, Epson, Hewlett-Packard and Lexmark. However, amongst the four there are differences in price and performance with Canon and Hewlett-Packard being the cheapest overall. Lexmark ink tends to be a bit pricier.
There are advantages and disadvantages to using an inkjet printer. The main advantage is that there are quiet and are easy to use. The printing quality is better. The printing is much finer than that of a dot matrix printer. Compared to more expensive printers inkjet printers are better in that they are cheaper to buy and to maintain. The cost per page is low. A big advantage to using an inkjet printer is that the ink may be purchased from the manufacturer or you may be able to buy a generic brand ink that works just the same.
While there are a number of advantage to using an inkjet printer there are also a number of big disadvantages as well. There are some inkjet printers that do not allow you to use any ink other than that from the manufacturer. In this case the ink can be quite costly. The nozzles of inkjet printers become clogged over time and it is often cheaper to replace the entire printer than to attempt to fix the nozzle. If you are using your printer a great deal then you may find that you are replacing your printer more often. Ink from inkjet printers is not of the greatest quality and it has been known to fade over time and lose its sharpness. There have been steps taken to overcome these problems. Various inkjet manufacturers are allowing other ink manufactures to create inks for their printers at a much lesser cost and therefore the consumer is not being required to pay as much either for the price of ink. However there are still a number of problems that need to be overcome.
